Girl Child and Women empowerment
Girl child and women Empowerment is the action of raising their statuses through education, raising awareness, literacy and training. It’s all about equipping and allowing girls and women to make life determining decisions through the different problem in the society.
Girls in many counties in Kenya often face many Challenges and threats to their education and well-being. One aspect we focus in is menstrual health and how it is linked to their education. Majority of girls do not have access to sanitary pads because their families cannot afford them. This results to the girls missing school for several days during their menses, dropping out of school due to stigma and shame after staining their clothes, use of old rugs which is a health risk, some girls have gotten pregnant as a result of exchanging sex for sanitary pads and some are raped in the process of asking for pads support from strangers /relatives. For this reason, we have an initiative ‘PAD A GIRL TO END PERIOD SHAME, STIGMA AND POVERTY’. Under this initiative we visit schools, do menstrual health awareness, donate sanitary pads and set up pad banks in these schools.

Women Empowerment can be done on many levels, but one crucial aspect is economic empowerment. We do this by creating and guiding women groups who create a chama to make them financially independent and secure. The Chama (Sacco) is a form of table banking by which groups create a shared saving account that the individuals of the group can use to get loans for their businesses or school fees for their children.
Additionally, we also have women groups that work together to create income for themselves. We have sisal rope making, basket weaving and creation of tie and dye textiles.
Our focus is;
- To see that all girls and young women, regardless of ethnicity, income level or social status, are nurtured and empowered to reach their fullest potential.
- To educate and empower socially and economically disadvantaged women and girls to make healthy choices in every aspect of their lives by providing personal growth and development services through one-on-one and group mentoring, workshops and career development programs.
- To develop and implement programs aimed at improving the standards of living of their communities through sustainable use of the environment and the available resources.
- To empower women and young girls economically and educationally to enable them participate in development activities, initiate the community to advocate for support and education of girls.
- Elimination of Violence against Women & Girls by facilitating development, promotion and enforcement of appropriate mechanisms for prevention, protection and response to violence against women and girls
